Heavenly Cliveden

Heavenly Cliveden

I love to visit the National Trust’s Orangery Cafe at Cliveden and sit outside on a sunny day.

This beautiful spring morning seemed like the perfect excuse to combine running and blogging and I headed over to take advantage of this National Trust treasure. It didn’t disappoint and, after a long winter, I’d say was really rather heavenly.

The Orangery Cafe had pots of golden daffodils set out on every table which looked stunning in the sparkling spring sunshine. The cafe, like most at National Trust venues, has a limited menu but this is always a great place for a generous slice of cake, a cream tea or even as I had a post-run jacket potato with tuna!

Set in the shadow of Cliveden House (a five star hotel in its own right), the Orangery Cafe is in a beautifully sheltered spot. It can get busy though, so either visit in the week if you can, or come early.

With miles of formal gardens and woodlands to walk, this is also a great spot for breaking out your inner picnicker. There are many spots to set up, with a choice of being near childrens play areas or in quieter more secluded spots if you prefer the peace and quiet.

Today, the gardens were bursting with colour, cherry blossom, tulips, daffodils, magnolias and even the first bluebells were all basking in the warm spring sunshine.

A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the simpler, more traditional food pleasures of life like a good cup of tea and a slice of Victoria Sandwich cake. Very Delectish.
