Heather Hills Honey

Heather Hills Honey

Heather Hills Farm Honey has a beautifully sweet, deep flavour which is really delicious and lays claim to impressive health benefits too.

It is farmed in the clean air of the Highlands of Perthshire, Scotland on a family run farm. The bees each have over five miles of space to roam and the honey is produced by traditional methods. This creates an artisan raw honey product which preserves the natural elements of the honey often destroyed in more commercial processes.

The honey first came to my attention through a study by Glasgow University in 2013 which found that the heather honey has as many benefits as Manuka honey. Fed up of being unsure whether I was genuinely buying Manuka honey and its sky high price, I made the switch.

We’ve been ordering it ever since. I love its deep sweetness and floral notes. I also love that it is so sweet, you can use very little which in itself is healthier. I spread it on thick slabs of granary toast, drizzle it over raspberries and use it in smoothies and shakes. It also works well as a glaze and gives a lovely flavour to cakes.

And it’s not just me who thinks it is a great product. Heather Hills Farm was one of only Scottish producers to scoop a Great Taste 2017 Top 50 Foods in the World accolade.

You can order (as I do) in bulk or, if you are fortunate enough to live in Scotland, some of their products are now stocked in Waitrose.

Very Delectish and well worth a try in my book.
