Cheese on Coast is the Real Deal

Cheese on Coast is the Real Deal

A cold February day took us on a day trip to St Ives. Wandering through the cobbled streets, we stumbled across this wonderful independent cheesemongers and what a find it turned out to be!

Cheese on Coast was the source of the cheese and meats in my last Cornwall Artisan Food blog where I created a sharing table from what we found. It is a fantastic shop, packed full of products from St Ives and the South West.

The shop is independently owned and run by the first and only two people in Cornwall to hold a recognised qualification in cheese accredited by the Academy of Cheese. They are also members of the Guild of Fine Food and it certainly showed on our visit.

The owners were friendly and informative when we visited, helping to guide us through the cheese counter with their knowledge. Some of the cheeses like the Cornish Kern (winner of Best World Cheese 2017/2018) were unfamiliar to us but they were quick to hand out samples as they told us about them.

There were also Cornish sea salts, butters and salamis to choose from and cheese related cooking and serving products. They say they do special international cheese like Monterey Jack for the Super Bowl as well, so there are many reasons to pop back as frequently as you can.

If you are living or staying in St Ives, you could hire a fondue set or even order take away Raclette. Cheese on Coast also has a new online ordering service and you can choose to be a member of their cheese club too.

Very Delectish!
